If you would like to help with the food pantry, please give Mary Anne Schindler a call or call the church office at 985-764-8292. We need help with promotion of the food pantry, collection of food, organizing the shelves, storing the food and so on. We mostly need your prayers for the people that we need and want to reach with these food baskets.

Thanksgiving Baskets:
Thank you for being the face of Christ!! For those that took part in the Thanksgiving Baskets... you were the face of Christ to many in our community. With the blessing of Brenda Marino, as the organizer, SCUMC handed out 81 baskets as the Body of Christ. More importantly we were able to talk to the people and pray with the people that were receiving the baskets. They were a blessing to our church. Over 100 people sat down and ate Red Beans and Rice with us after we all prayed a prayer of thanksgiving together. We also will be lifting up 31 prayer request that were given at 6:30PM tonight in the prayer room. You are invited to do this as a ministry of our church body. Thank you to the people that brought in food, donated funds, answered the phone calls, picked up food from the schools, went grocery shopping for the additional food, decorated boxes, collected boxes, assembled boxes of food, cooked the meal, served the meal, prayed as one body, handed our prayer request and brochures, made the prayer box, left their Sunday School classes to carry our boxes and turkeys, smiled or said good morning to a person in the parking lot and cleaned up the Fellowship Hall! It takes many to be "THE BODY OF CHRIST"! Thank you for being in that number!!

Just so you can share in the blessing.... One of the ladies that came to pick up a basket saw the chance to help. She began working with us to hand out turkeys from the back of the truck. When someone came for a basket and was not on the list, she gave her basket away. She was the face of Christ!! After things calmed down she came to Brenda and said she would like to help with this every year!!
